A little more progress on the NB 997 SOA Inspired Nike Air Max 1’s using the acrylic pattern from Sneaker Crafted and different shades of suedes from A&A Crack & Sons.
I also cut the correct white nubuck decorative panel this time.
I’m adding a navy suede backing to the swoosh. At the moment it works out as a 3mm border, but I might reduce this to 2mm. With a bit of edge tidying, a few more panels, and a bit of reinforcement I should be good to go.
Nearly complete with all of the external panels. Just the mesh and tongue tag to cut before I move on to the internal linings and padding. I also have to figure out what size navy border looks best behind the white nubuck swoosh. What do you think, thin or fat?
Usually, the top of the Air Max 1 tongue panel is all one piece, I’m going to split it between off-white and bubble gum pink. This will be topped off with an embossed white nubuck tongue tag.
I also ran into a thread issue. I can’t source a heavy-duty thread to match the cool mint suede colour, so will have to figure that one out… If anyone knows of heavy-duty thread suppliers let me know.
I promise I’ll be switching on the sewing machine soon. I can piece together the tongue as most of the stitching on that is internal. Also, the thread colour doesn’t really matter.
I’m very open to partnerships, so if you are a supplier of shoemaking tools, materials, or products and would like to partner up to promote them through our various social channels, feel free to get in touch.
